Charlie Sheen claims he has pictures to prove Brooke Mueller is a drug abuser

Charlie Sheen has declared war on his estranged wife Brooke Mueller.
The ‘Two and a Half men’ star has apparently claimed that he has photographs that prove Mueller is a drug abuser, reports the Mirror.
The shock pictures show a home-made crack pipe, foil, a spoon, drug residue and Mueller’s driving licence, which the actor claims she used to cut lines of cocaine. Sheen came out fighting after police seized the couple’s 23-month-old twins, Bob and Max, from him this week.
Mueller, 33, was granted a restraining order, claiming her boys were at risk as Sheen spends more time with his two girlfriends, porn star Bree Olson and glamour girl Natalie Kenly.
But showing the pictures, the Platoon actor told a website: “Look at what I’m protecting them from. I gotta believe a judge is going to frown on that — a home-made crack pipe.”
Sheen claims he took the photos on his mobile in a hotel bathroom when Mueller joined him, Olson and Kenly in the Bahamas last week.
Sheen, 45, whose tests this week showed he is now clean of drugs and booze, added: “If there’s an immediate threat to these children it’s right here.” (ANI)

Courtney Love to pay over $430K to settle Twitter lawsuit

Courtney Love has reportedly agreed to pay 430,000 dollars to settle a lawsuit filed by a fashion designer who claimed her career was ambushed by the rocker’s defamatory tweets.
Dawn Simorangkir filed a lawsuit against Love in January, claiming that the singer launched a 20-minute Twitter rampage against the designer in 2009, including posts that referred to Simorangkir as a “drug-pushing prostitute” and an “asswipe nasty lying hosebag thief”.
The former Hole singer argued her comments were protected as free speech and that Simorangkir could not prove how the tweets were damaging to her.
The pair had apparently been feuding because Love owed the designer money for clothes.
Instead of paying, Love went on several social media sites and posted the unflattering words about Simorangkir.
“The amount of the settlement says it all,” Adelaide Now quoted Simorangkir’s lawyer Bryan Freedman as telling the Hollywood Reporter.
“Her reprehensible defamatory comments were completely false and 430,000 dollars is quite a significant way to say I am sorry.
“One would hope that, given this disaster, restraint of pen, tongue and tweet would guide Ms Love’s future conduct,” he added.
Love’s attorney James Janowitz told The Reporter that the sum would be handed over in a series of payments over the next three years. (ANI)

Bob Dylan’s China gig application under review

Bob Dylan’s application to play a series of shows in China is being reviewed by officials, a year after authorities refused the folk legend permission to perform in the communist country.
Dylan, 69, had planned to take his Never Ending Tour to China last April, but the country’s government failed to grant him approval for dates in Beijing and Shanghai, the Daily Express reported.
The move prompted Dylan to scrap the rest of his Asian tour dates.
Now the singer has put in a new application, and an official from China’s Ministry of Culture has revealed a decision is now pending.
Dylan is believed to be classed as a controversial act to perform in China because of his politically charged lyrics and support for the 1960s U.S. protests movement. (ANI)

Natalie Portman slammed for her pregnancy

Former Arkansas governor and Fox News Channel host Mike Huckabee has blasted Natalie Portman for her out-of-wedlock pregnancy.
The Oscar-winner is expecting her first child with fiance Benjamin Millepied.
“People see a Natalie Portman who boasts, ‘We’re not married but we’re having these children and they’re doing just fine,” Usmagazine.com quoted Huckabee as telling radio host Michael Medved on his show.
“I think it gives a distorted image. It’s unfortunate that we glorify and glamorize the idea of out-of- wedlock children,” he said.
Calling Portman’s pregnancy “troubling,” Huckabee went on to say that many single parents don’t have the resources to hire help, the way someone like the ‘Black Swan’ star would.
“Most single moms are very poor, uneducated, can’t get a job, and if it weren’t for government assistance, their kids would be starving to death and never have health care. And that’s the story that we’re not seeing,” the Fox News Channel host said. (ANI)

The Way Back Review

Film: “The Way Back”; Cast: Jim Sturgess, Ed Harris, Colin Farrell, Saoirse Ronan, Dragos Bucur; Director: Peter Weir; Rating: **** – an impossible trek turned into a cinematic triumph.
Through the history of mankind, various events – enforced or self-inflicted – have proven the boundless endurance of the human body and mind. But to depict that on film requires a different kind of skill set and endurance from a director.
Thankfully, “The Way Back” has Peter Weir, who comes out with one of the most gritty, seemingly unbelievable yet realistic tales of survival ever captured on celluloid.
For the thousands of prisoners in the Gulag camps during World War II, the real prison is not one of barbed wires, but the five million square miles of Siberia and its brutal weather. When Janusz (Jim Sturgess) is falsely accused and brought there, he wants to escape immediately. And he does it with six other inmates, heading towards Mongolia down south.
One dies on the way, but the rest of the band, joined by a female, survive the odds to reach Mongolia only to find that the nation has turned communist and they can no longer seek political refuge there. So, they decide something crazier – to walk all the way up to India.
Unbelievable as it sounds, Weir discovered that it was not just the book “The Long Walk” on which the film is based, and its foursome that survived this impossible 6,500 km trek, but many others also did. In truth, the authenticity of the man who claimed the trek in the book is in question, but the director found other credible sources.
Yet, beyond the doubts of the authenticity of the story was the challenge of translating the mental and physical strain of such an impossible journey into a film. Here, Weir uses sharp writing, breathtaking cinematography, excellent makeup and a sterling performance from his cast to give the story multiple insulin shots of believability.
Weir, the director of masterpieces such as “The Truman Show” and “Dead Poets Society”, pits the pitiable condition of our fugitives with the surreal beauty of the landscape they trek through which seem to both mock and inspire the intrepid travellers.
The message – the world is too vast to either completely fathom or for puny man to consider himself masters, even if once in a while he does manage the impossible.
The film has many moments that will haunt the viewers, and this besides the haunting landscapes in which it is shot. In one scene, the hungry travellers find a half eaten carcass of some animal being eaten by a pack of wolves. The men chase the wolves away and jump on the flesh, feasting on it like the wolves were barely a few minutes back. In another, a man with night blindness unable to reach the place they were sheltering, freezes to death only for his mates to find him barely a few feet from where they were.
Politically the film is a statement against communism and its endless series of human rights abuse though the decades. If you consider the analogy, the long walk of the trans-national prisoners, who except one are not criminals, is a walk of the world away from communism.
Thousands of travellers through the ages have trekked through the most inhospitable of snowy mountains and dehydrating deserts. Few have made it, most have not. To the delight of every discerning film lover in the world, “The Way Back” does make it.

IIFA to hold Raj Kapoor film festival

The 12th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) weekend, to be held in Toronto this year, will organise a Raj Kapoor retrospect.
“I have been part of IIFA since 12 years now and for the last four years I have been performing consecutively. But this year is going to be more special to me because Wizcraft and IIFA are having a Raj Kapoor retrospect,” Kareena, grand-daughter of Raj Kapoor, told reporters here Friday.
“It’s going to be very special and emotional. I’m very excited about that than anything else because Raj Kapoor was not only my grandfather but a man, who defined Hindi cinema,” she added
The IIFA weekend will be held across the cities of Toronto, Brampton, Mississauga and Markham in the Greater Toronto Area from June 23-25.
Filmmaker Karan Johar, who is also the advisory board member of IIFA, said the retrospect will be held in association with the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
“TIFF is a great platform that has supported Hollywood and world cinema for many years. Recently, its association with Hindi cinema has been tremendous and now it brings the golden era man Raj Kapoor on the surface of the Hollywood industry. It’s a great idea which is supported by IIFA,” said Karan.
Apart from this, the three-day show will feature world premiere of a select films, an awards gala, a fashion show and other interactive events.

Paula Abdul called 911 on Valentine’s Day

Former ‘American Idol’ judge Paula Abdul called police on Valentine’s Day after she got into an emotional fight with her boyfriend.
The dispute was caught on audio during the call she placed to 911.
Now TMZ.com has obtained the recording, which was taken at 4:35 p.m. on Feb. 14, reports the New York Daily News.
In the recording, Abdul tells the operator she is on the 401 freeway near Santa Barbara, Calif.
“I want out of this car and he won’t let me,” Abdul cries.
As the operator asks the singer for more info, Abdul can be heard asking her boyfriend, “Are you going to drop me off because I have emergency on the phone?”
“He’s dropping me off,” Abdul breathlessly says just before the recording – which is about 50 seconds long – cuts off.
Officers later spoke with Abdul, who reportedly said she had had a verbal argument, and a police report was unnecessary, TMZ said.
“Arguments with loved ones are often times heated. After the call was made everything was worked out,” Abdul’s rep said.
However, the boyfriend was not named in the 911 call or identified by the website. (ANI)

Alice Cooper offers words of wisdom for LiLo, Sheen

Legendary rocker Alice Cooper, who suffered some serious substance abuse issues in his time and has spent thirty years of sobriety, has some words of wisdom for celebrities like Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen, who just can’t seem to stay out of trouble.
“It was fun in the 60’s and 70’s but those days are gone, if you are living in this day and age there are way too many things to stop your career and not enough things to keep it going,” Fox News quoted him as saying.
“In this business there is two or things you have to do. You have to be totally professional, always be there half an hour early not half an hour late. Be ready to work and do what you are supposed to do,” said Cooper after announcing the nominees for the third annual Revolver Golden Gods Awards presented by Epiphone.
“If you’re doing a movie, know your lines, if you’re doing an album then don’t show up and not know what you’re doing because that’s the stereotypical thing people think rock stars are…it’s not really true. We get in the studio and know exactly what we’re doing.”
And even when he was in the depths of self-destruction, Cooper said it never impacted his work ethic.
“It was just something that was built into us, if you wanted to stick around you really had to be professional. Our band really believed in that. We were over-rehearsed, we never dared come in late,” he said.
“What that says to me is that my time is more important that yours, and that is insulting. You don’t need enemies in this business, you need friends.”
Nonetheless, it wasn’t until his health started drastically declining that he decided to change his bad behaviors once and for all.
“I had to quit drinking thirty years ago because I was getting up in the morning and throwing up blood and that is probably not a good thing. I think that might have been a sign to quit drinking, and what it really did was put thirty more years on my life. I never smoked cigarettes,” Cooper continued.
“I’ve been married 35 years with the greatest wife in the world, and all those things really contribute to (staying clean) and I have never lost my love for the big power chords.”
And who knows, maybe Lohan or even Sheen would benefit from taking up golf – after all, it has worked wonders for the 63-year-old.
“I play for fun even though I’ve won a lot of tournaments and I play pretty good, but it is only because I play a lot – six days a week. It took the addiction of drinking six days a week, now I play golf six days a week but at least I am going to live to talk about it,” he said.
“If I was drinking six days a week like I used to, I wouldn’t be here,” he added. (ANI)

Amanda Seyfried has shot down rumours that a Mammia Mia! sequel could one day go into production, saying the script writers have no scope to take the story further.
“F**k no! That’s never gonna happen. Like, what would they do? What would they write about? How would they get all the actors back?” the Daily Star quoted the actress, as telling Marie Claire magazine.
The ‘ABBA’ stage show became a box office phenomenon when it was transformed into a 2008 film, overtaking Grease as the world’s top-earning movie musical after pulling in a mammoth 400 million pounds in global ticket sales.

Lily Allen to judge X Factor?

British pop singer Lily Allen is apparently in secret talks to replace Simon Cowell on the ‘X Factor’ judging panel in a megabucks deal.
Big fan Cowell has told his executive producers to “break the bank” to get the sharp-tongued singer on board the hit ITV show.
However, the 25-year-old star, who is taking a break from the spotlight to write the score for ‘Bridget Jones The Musical’, is playing hard to get.
“Lily was flattered to get Simon’s call. It’s a big job and an honour to be asked. But she’s not convinced,” the Sun quoted a source as saying.
“She has tried to take a step back from the limelight over the last six months and doesn’t want to be thrust right back into the madness of the showbiz pantomime that comes with the show.
“She doesn’t need the money or the hassle at this stage in her life. Maybe in a few years’ time when circumstances change she will be more receptive,” the source added. (ANI)

James Franco, Taylor Wood to create short films

Lead vocalist for R.E.M. Michael Stipe has signed on actor James Franco and director Sam Taylor-Wood to create short films to accompany the highly anticipated new album, ‘Collapse Into Now’.
Franco, 32, and Taylor-Wood, 44, have signed up to direct clips inspired by different songs on the record for Stipe’s Collapse Into Now Film Project.
Stipe, 51, handpicked both the actor and the ‘Nowhere Man’ director for his latest effort, and admits, to NME.com, he gave them “free rein” to do whatever they liked with his tracks.
“I went to people I really wanted to work with and I could trust them to do whatever they wanted. They had absolute free rein,” the Daily Express quoted Stipe as saying.
“In many instances I was surprised, in many instances I got what I wanted. What I wanted wasn’t primarily important though, what was important was to trust the directors with something as precious as a brand new song.
“It was really fun for me to curate, working with all these different artists, and seeing how they interpreted the songs. The thing that was surprising is how much they interlockingly work, like an album.
“It was a way of presenting the idea of an album in 2011, beyond a music fan’s idea of an album 20 years ago. The way technology is right now, it’s possible to present something in any way you want to.
“I basically wanted to explore the idea of what is an album, and how do we present it with everything that we have available,” he added. (ANI)

Kristen Stewart fell in love at first sight

‘Twilight’ director Catherine Hardwicke has spilled the beans on how Kristen Stewart fell in love with Robert Pattinson.
Hardwicke said Stewart felt an instant attraction to Pattinson when the couple first met for their audition.
“I looked at a couple pictures and was like, ‘I’m not sure.’ He had been fired from his last job, he was unemployed, he was in debt,” Contactmusic quoted Hardwicke as saying.
“I have footage of their first meeting at my dining-room table. Kristen was like, ‘It’s got to be Rob!’ She felt connected to him from the first moment. That electricity, or love at first sight, or whatever it is.”
While Stewart, 20, eventually managed to convince the director to hire Pattinson, Hardwicke revealed she made him promise not to get romantically involved with his co-star because she was only 17 at the time and he was four years older.
She explained to Newsweek: “I told him, ‘You’ve got to realize that Kristen is 17 years old. She’s underage. You’ve got to focus, dude, or you’re going to be arrested.’ I made him swear on a stack of Bibles.” (ANI)

Justin Bieber wants to make jailbird dad a superstar rapper

Teen heartthrob Justin Bieber wants to turn his jailbird dad into a rap star.
The 16-year-old singer aims to use his music contacts to help father Jeremy become famous, reports the Daily Star.
The 36-year-old father, who raps about his life of drugs and crime, was absent for most of Bieber’s childhood.
But Bieber is out to build bridges and reckons giving his dad a springboard to rap success is the way to do it.
A source close to the singer said: “Justin knows all about his dad’s bad rep and that he’s been in and out of prison. But he wants to help him sort his life out.”
“Justin is one of the biggest stars in the world with lots of cash and the best contacts in the business. If he can’t make his dad a star then nobody can,” said the source.
Bieber also thinks Usher can help his old man become a chart topper like him.
The source said, “Justin credits Jeremy with giving him his musical genes and, despite their long separation, won’t hear a word against his dad. Jeremy has talent and his gritty raps are from his own experiences on the other side of the law.”
“He’ll appeal to a wide audience. With Usher on board the world is his oyster. And given how popular Justin is around the globe his dad will surely ride his coat tails and cash in too,” added the source. (ANI)

Hollywood comes to Bollywood (To go with Hollywood talent manager hunts for Bollywood talent)

Three new Hollywood films are set to be shot in India shortly as producers explore the Indian market with the help of an Indian American talent manager in Hollywood.
‘The process of selecting India as a location has been easy,’ says Jai Khanna, a manager at Brillstein Entertainment Partners (BEP), a top Hollywood talent management film and television production company.
‘The key is finding the right partners, those with the right sensibility, in order to navigate the landscape and politics of India, as well as appeal to an American crew and cast,’ Khanna, who heads BEP’s new efforts to explore the Indian market, told IANS in an interview.
‘Hope Lost’, the first of three films targeted for India production, is aimed for a summer shoot in Mumbai. Based on the hit comic book series by Jeff Albert, it’s an action-thriller about the duality battle between good vs evil, with themes of the Ramayana.
To be produced by Marlon Parry, the film will be directed by Rajeev Virani.
The second, ‘River of Gods’, based on a novel by Ian McDonald that won the British Science Fiction Award in 2004, imagines a futuristic India, inhabited by ancient traditions as well as artificial intelligence, robots and nanotechnology.
To be produced by Anthony Dorment and Susan Cherian, it is aimed for a fall shoot.
Also to be shot at the same time is ‘Last Bachelor’, an international romantic comedy, in Rajasthan and Goa. The film will be produced by Lux Entertainment in Britain.
‘India has been viewed as an exotic location for actors, and not immediately thought of as a film location. If we can marry the two experiences, of exploring the wonders of India, and working in a professional manner, we hope for more productions to enter India,’ Khanna says.

Brand plays drunken millionaire playboy Arthur Bach in the remake of the popular 1981 film.
‘My own personal experiences of frivolity and extravagance were helpful to draw upon I suppose but not really my experience as an alcoholic and drug addict. There’s an innocence to Arthur – even though he likes to drink – whereas I was quite dark,’ contactmusic.com quoted him as saying.
Director Jason Winer is all praise for Brand’s acting skills and said he thinks the movie will make people realise there is more to the comedian than they think.
‘He is at an interesting point in his career where people still think of him as the bad boy, the ‘Shagger of the Year’. But this will show he’s much more thoughtful, introspective and smarter than anyone would suspect,’ Winer said.

Jamia students making their mark in Bollywood

They are making films with big names and editing critically acclaimed movies. The alumni of Jamia Millia Islamia’s Mass Communication Research Centre, who are going places in the film industry, give credit to the university for shaping them up.
At the same time, they feel ex-students working in Bollywood should have a strong network and also interact with those pursuing their course.
Lauding their university, directors Danish Aslam, Alankrita Shrivastava and editor Sandeep Singh Bajeli say that the environment and experience that Jamia provides played a major role in moulding their personalities and giving them the right perspectives.
It also provided mindspace and instilled confidence by laying stress on practical teaching, they feel.
Bajeli, editor of the critically acclaimed film ‘Lahore’ and ‘Phas Gaye Re Obama’, says Jamia does not limit students to any one aspect of filmmaking but allows them to explore and experiment in every department.
‘After a strong foundation was laid in the first year, where I learnt from puppetry to radio jockeying to street theatre, I started grasping the finer nuances of filmmaking and learnt intuitively. Jamia encouraged me to have an independent outlook,’ he said.
Danish Aslam, director of Imran Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Break Ke Baad’, has the similar views.
‘The special thing about Jamia is that it offers a broad course focused on practical knowledge. It was only after familiarising us with various other creative mediums apart from filmmaking that the regular course commenced,’ he said.
Alankrita, who debuted in Bollywood with Gul Panag starrer ‘Turning 30', says the experience at the varsity freed her mind and helped her to discover herself.
‘The place has an unique atmosphere and the training enabled me to work hard in the industry. We watched and studied a lot of films during those days, which eventually helped us significantly,’ said the director.
Apart from the course structure, faculty and equipment, which are among the finest, the university makes sure that its students are modest and humble.
‘There are many people in the industry from other reputed media institutes who are very arrogant. They have a superiority complex for no reason. But this is not the case with all of us who are from Jamia,’ said Alankrita.
Other Jamia students believe it’s all about the approach towards the course.
‘The thing about the courses at Jamia is that they are general in nature and not specific to say just direction or editing. Moreover, the focus of these courses is not to get you an entry into Bollywood, but a well-rounded learning,’ said Akshay Singh, cinematographer of ‘Turning 30'. He has also worked on films like ‘Raajneeti’ and ‘Kites’.
However, the students feel interaction between the ex-students working in the film industry and those who are pursuing their degrees should increase. They also emphasise on better networking among pass-outs in Mumbai.
‘The sharing of knowledge between us and the students would be wonderful and beneficial for both. Our experiences would help them to get a head start in Bollywood. Therefore, the interaction levels must go up,’ said Aslam.
Agreed Alankrita, who was unhappy with the lack of communication and suggested that both sides should intermingle once in a while.
Ex-Jamia students working in Mumbai were oblivious to the fact that others from the same institution were also in the industry.
‘There were people whom I knew, but was unaware that they were from Jamia too which did come as a surprise. Ultimately, these things do affect you when you are in a new place and a support structure is surely needed,’ said Bajeli.

Drive Angry Review

Film: ‘Drive Angry’; Cast: Nicolas Cage, Amber Heard, William Fichtner, Billy Burke; Director: Patrick Lussier; Rating: ** – entertaining, but lacks focus.
What’s the point of a film that does not have a point? The answer is a question – why should a film have a point in the first place? If a film entertains, it should be enough. If one is a believer in that part, ‘Drive Angry’ is definitely a worthy watch.
Milton (Nicolas Cage) literally manages to escape the confinements of hell to prevent a cult led by Jonah King (Billy Burke) that murdered his daughter, from killing his grand daughter. Only, he is pursued by The Accountant (William Fichtner), Satan’s supernatural sidekick and helped by a totally natural and mortal human, Piper (Amber Heard).
Despite literally having no point and not real charisma, ‘Drive Angry’ does have its moments where it leaps forwards and grabs the audience. Most of these have to do with the infusion of the wit in the film and the character of the accountant.
In terms of technique, the film tries hard to be like a comic book adaptation and though in parts it succeeds with some lines worthy of a repeat, it does look pretentious in other parts. But, it is not a film you watch with your logic glues to your head.
Amber Heard as the woman, who first drives Milton around and later becomes his partner in crime, shows off all that the Indian censor board has permitted.
Fans of brainless action films will have a few take home moments and lines. But beyond it all, it is a predictable ride that has to be taken only out of desperation and not out of a favour to cinema.

Hollywood talent manager hunts for Bollywood talent

An Indian American talent manager in Hollywood, who manages stars like Irrfan Khan in the US, is on a mission to rope in top Bollywood stars and promote films to be shot in India.
‘I don’t see it as a challenge but more so as a creative interest,’ Jai Khanna, manager at Brillstein Entertainment Partners, a Hollywood talent management film and television production company, said in an interview.
‘Both industries are thriving with talented artists, technicians and stories,’ he told IANS. But ‘I have a special affinity with Indian cinema and talent, as a first generation Indo-American exposed to the best of both worlds.
‘With select talent from India, the ‘challenge’ is to bring them interesting material and have a creative and fruitful conversation about the benefits and negatives to engaging in such a project.’
Khanna, who booked Irrfan Khan on Sony’s new big-budget 3D Spider-Man film, Ang Lee’s ‘Life of Pi’ and HBO’s ‘In Treatment’, is now looking to get more big names from Bollywood into established Hollywood projects.
‘We have to recognize the stature of actors in India, for being at the top of their game, with an enormous body of work under their belt,’ he says.
‘There is no rush or urgency for Indian actors to work in Hollywood. There is never a sense of needing Hollywood to validate their work. I recognize and respect this,’ says Khanna.
‘As a result, it’s on a case-by-case basis on carefully looking at interesting opportunities in Hollywood, presenting them to our clients, then embarking on our next ‘challenge,’ which is to educate Hollywood on why such actor is the best selection for this role.’
‘There is an illusion about ‘Bollywood’ based on a naivety, that it’s all song and dance,’ says Khanna, who himself does not care much for that label.
‘An education is needed for Hollywood to watch the Indian films in its entirety, so there is a much deeper level of respect and admiration for the acting that surrounds such song and dance.
‘Again, the distribution and marketing of films can use improvement, here in the US,’ he says. ‘They fly below the radar and tend to target the NRIs only. There would be no challenge for any actor, if a wider audience was not exposed to their craft.’
On booking Irrfan Khan on the new Spider-Man film, Khanna said Sony executives were impressed by the overwhelming response to the Indian star’s work in ‘In Treatment’, ‘a highly respected show in Hollywood.’
‘Director Marc Webb reached out to personally express his enthusiasm for creating an interesting role for Irrfan, and making it worth his time,’ he recalled.
‘In regards to ‘Life Of Pi’, we were fortunate that Ang Lee is a student of world cinema. He was always a fan, and when ‘Life of Pi’ finally came together at Fox, it was an opportunity for both artists to finally collaborate.’
‘Out of respect to Ang, Irrfan was very helpful in casting the young male lead and lending support for the production to be done in India.’
But in general managing the Bollywood stars is very different from managing Hollywood stars, says Khanna.
‘Because of the distance of two cultures, there needs to be an extra level of education on our part to fully understand their stature in India. Again, we are dealing with the best of the best,’ he said.
‘They are not budding artists, but quite the opposite. They are exposed to great material, lucrative compensation, and country wide admiration. My strategy is to bring something different to the table,’ said Khanna.
‘One of the challenges is the pace of our business,’ he says. ‘It moves quickly, as stars are eager to find their next projects and start production. My experience with a select few from India, has been the slow turn around in feedback.
‘This lack of communication makes it difficult, but it’s getting better, with technology, or just helping to create a better infrastructure,’ he said, citing the example of Hrithik Roshan, who he says ‘is great with communication.’
But Indian talent outside India, such as Navi Rawat, Jimi Mistry, Maulik Pancholy and Parvesh Cheena, is different, Khanna said.
‘They are born and raised here, so they organically, understand the language, politics and nuances.
‘They may appear to be Indian on the outside, but the mentality is that of an American. They know the rules of the game very well.’
